springs

I've just bought this small spring assortment with 200 pieces. You can easily find it at online shops,  just  google it, yet the delivery costs are high. Its price rounds $6,60 ~ $11,90 without postage fees.
I've ended up buying it at a local store by 20€.

the creature [Bzzzoira Moira]

The Creature, that's how we've named this nameless character. These are the first pictures of it being built.

x-ray view

While reviewing a previous post I've noticed something funny. The skull drawing.
Well, it happens I draw it a lot, 'cause ... well... it's just something funny to do. So, I'm posting here some of the several puppet skulls I've drawn 'till today. I've maybe started doing it because it was amusing or just because on that particular drawing I could rest a little while inventing some character, but the truth is that sometimes I end up drawing one more skull once again, and it helps a little to understand the structure of someones cranium.

florbela ferreira

She came to us months ago asking if there was any kind of rare possibility to help us in some sort of way because she wanted to learn something more about how to build puppets.
The true is that months passed by and she has been contributing whenever she can, and only in the past few days she had the time to restart building her own puppet with our help.
I give you here, a picture taken by Clara Ribeiro.

random seeding [Bzzzora Moira]

Here are some studies where I implement the random effect as seed for my drawings. Can you remember that little game where you have to draw something from a random line previously drawn by a second person?, well ... the process is similar. The property we have to recognize or see faces, objects or others on things is called Pareidolia. Pareidolia also manifests with sounds, smells and other stimulus.

read more at Wikipedia:

The main idea is to use random seeds in order to create whatever you need. And then, for each time you redraw those first lines, you'll be sculpting the object with your pencil according to what they must look as character. This process will work whenever it seems you can't draw anything that day, otherwise you're just wasting time.

random effect

Everyone that knows me can tell you how much I enjoy the random effect. Even when you have all things sorted out, some random seeding can bring something truly exceptional to your work. Here are two printscreens from some VB tests I've made years ago. Any geek out there can tell you that there is nothing less random than a computer random decision. In order to your computer could seem random, it will execute several mathematical equations using, as seed, your time or a list of numbers previously created. There are a few ways it can pretend to be random but really it is just pretending.
The best way to see that is to really visualize your data. In the following pictures you can tell that there are areas more populated and some regular textures being created. The slower the delay between routines and procedures the less random it will look.

second hand stores

You can find a variety of products at second hand shops, and they are almost anywhere.
From books (my addiction), to LP's, household appliances or even furniture.
Here are two where I usually buy:
