to be continued... [F.U.N.I.L.]

Some more drawings... of masks.

creatures [F.U.N.I.L.]

I'm really enjoying making these kind of drawings.
I use the Staedtler Mars micro colour leads on a Rotring Tikky II mechanical pencil. Then it's just a matter of photographing it instead of scanning it. Some Photoshop to tune up the colour balance, levels, contrast and paint some highlights, ... that's all.

hobby kit marionettes

And there's more... It's missing the white because you're supposed to work the dough on top of the empty plastic cup.

atelier01

ATELIER01 is the name of new place at Póvoa de Varzim dedicated to arts. Presented by the artist Migvel Tepes, the inauguration will be on the next Sunday, the 14, around 16h00.
There are already two workshops by the company Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora happening there.

fimo hands [Bzzzoira Moira]

My love/hate relationship with fimo is starting to be resolved since I'm managing to start to do some interesting things with it. Yes, ... that's how it works. My solution was to cook it several times and correcting it between those procedures with some more dough or some blade cuttings.

hobby kit mask

Yes, ... it's true. It's kinda awkward but it might work. Let's see... Should I test it or just store it and frame it?
It's a product from the company JOVI and it might be a nice solution for teachers and their kids. Myself,  well, ... I really dislike the JOVI "modelling clay" (dough) because its fibre is so small that it tends to brake after drying, ... but that's me.
And yes, it comes with an RGB pallet because everyone is able to decompose the green colour.

second life

All the puppets have a second life besides the stage performance. For those thinking that puppets live most of their "life's" on boxes, here I show you a picture of Sr. Aparo.
Although this picture is a joke, it's true that the relationship between puppet and people changes if we're rather dealing with its builder or its puppeteer among several other concepts. Some could tell you that they have a close connection with the object, as if it was a living creature. For me, it never stops being an object made with tools and materials. In spite of the fact that they were built by me, I always see them as objects that serve a mean, and that mean is to resemble life.
I could probably think this way because I'm constantly building puppets for others, but let's stop it here by now.

first drawings [F.U.N.I.L.]

Here I present you the very first drawings made for this show. They were made on June 09 and, as you can imagine, the puppets won't have anything to do with this. To much time had passed and they were redrawed so many times since then. They were inspired on the work of Hieronymus Bosch and probably I'll maintain the red and bluish look on their eyes.

the beginning [F.U.N.I.L.]

These are the first pictures of the F.U.N.I.L. puppets. More will come.

spray can

These are the spray can's that lately we've been using for painting sponge.
SolColor Smalto Spray, they are cheap and have strong colours that easily cover the sponge surface just with one coat.
